Cruise Documentation Rundown: For U.S. citizens taking a "closed-loop" cruises (sailings that originate and terminate in the same U.S. port) are not required to have passports, but need proof of citizenship. (original or certified copy of a birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, passport card, an enhanced driver's license (EDL) AND government-issued photo ID.) Children are required to bring proof of citizenship. Over 16: photo ID is required. If a cruise begins and ends in different U.S. ports or begins and ends in a foreign port, a valid passport or other WHTI compliant document is required. All European cruises require passport in good condition, 6-months out expiration date from return travel date. All non-US citizens must have a passport for air, land and sea travel.
